The Opportunity
Machine learning integrated with chemistry/biology at scale lies at the core of insitro's approach to rethinking drug discovery and development. This is a great opportunity for an early career molecular biologist to gain expertise in many types of nucleic acid handling and assay development with automation equipment. Requirements for the position include undergraduate classroom and lab training in chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. Experience the successful candidate will acquire will include numerous techniques for handling nucleic acids, including PCR, transcription, reverse transcription, gel electrophoresis, and various enzymatic manipulations of DNA. Duties will also include working as part of a cross-functional team to collect biological and chemical data for drug discovery. You will work in concert with numerous cross-functional teams, comprising machine learning engineers, life scientists, automation engineers and data scientists. You will learn from scientists with world-class research skills and experience in developing and using cutting-edge molecular biology methods and applying automation to streamline processes. You will hone your interpersonal skills, and build a strong collaborative work ethic, as well as the ability to adapt to changing needs, and the capacity to multitask to meet key goals. Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills are essential to success in this position.

Specifically, you will:
- Work with DNA encoded library scientists in the lab assisting them on multiple projects.
- Perform PCR amplification, analysis and purification of DNA samples
- Run gels, make buffers and follow protocols and SOPs
-Present results to cross-functional teams
- Work in a fast-paced cross-functional, technologically advanced corporate environment in an internship program focused on developing individuals capable of pursuing careers in biotech
- Improve your industry knowledge through a collaborative work environment

About You
- Currently a student in an accredited degree program pursuing a bachelor's, master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or closely related disciplines
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 or higher
Knowledge in molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis
Ability to work onsite
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving
Good presentation, writing and communication skills
Meticulous about documenting experimental and analytical work with remarkable attention to detail in all aspects of the job
