The Role:
Olema seeks a strong leader to oversee our translational biology efforts and to provide strategic and technical expertise for our research portfolio. You will be an integral part of the research leadership team, working cross functionally to drive our oncology drug discovery efforts. You will have the opportunity to design and oversee the execution of experiments with key collaborators and outside contract research organizations. You will work with all levels of our organization to advance our drug discovery efforts and to bring new small molecule drugs to patients.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide strategic, scientific, and managerial leadership to build and drive translational biology efforts
  • Oversee identification and exploration of drug targets and design strategies for target validation and preclinical development
  • Develop biomarker strategies to enable progression from preclinical to clinical studies in collaboration with colleagues in research and clinical development departments
  • Lead multidisciplinary drug discovery project teams in a fast-paced, results-driven biotech environment
  • Collaborate with data science and clinical teams to develop combination strategies for oncology indications
  • Manage relationships with external thought leaders aimed at gaining better understanding of target biology, pharmacodynamic markers, and patient selection and stratification

What You Will Bring:
  • Ph.D. with 10+ years of experience in biology, with 7+ years in biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of 3 years direct leadership experience
  • Experience leading translational biology efforts on project teams at various stages of the programs
  • Strong understanding of cancer cell signaling pathways and experience with PK/PD/efficacy studies to validate disease indications
  • A strong track record of success in translating biological findings to development candidate molecules
  • Experience with small molecule drug development and IND submissions
  • Experience with selection and development of in vivo disease models
  • Experience with cancer genomics/genetics databases and data analysis
  • Experience with building and managing effective teams
  • Experience managing external partners
  • Ability to successfully participate in a highly creative and enthusiastic start-up environment
