Education/Experience:
- Assigned to a specific site or to a group of sites where their time is distributed according to an HSE needs assessment, client expectations and/or as directed by HSE Field Manager.
- Ensure the daily/routine HSE tasks required by our policies, procedures and clients are being successfully completed.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all employees, clients, regulatory agencies and industry/professional groups they are involved in.
- Perform inspections of the jobsite, hazardous materials storage areas, and all work areas for Safety, Health, and Environmental concerns.
- Shall confirm inspection with written reports on these findings and work with site leadership to correct conditions noted.
- Developing and implementing SH&E policies and procedures Safety Orientation training for new employees, environmental safety procedures and equipment, training on environmental spill response, and other training as need be
- Investigation, reporting, and follow-up response efforts for onsite incidents that occur.
- Knowledgeable on federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Frequently inspect and re-stock materials and equipment needed for safety and site emergency response spill kits. Order safety/environmental supplies as needed.
- Enforcement of the Health and Safety Plan with all employees and operations.
- Perform other safety, health, and environmental duties as requested.
- Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes Measure sites performance against published requirements in safety policies.
- For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies
- Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable
- Company Safety Policies Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other sites
- Audit recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance to corporate safety standards and local regulations
- Audit the workplace organization and employee behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent
- Seek input from Technicians and HSE leaders on safety program improvement opportunities
- Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution of these suggestions
- Ensure site leadership and Technicians are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities
- Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.
Skills/Qualifications:
Technical:
- Knowledge of Federal EPA standards, state, and local safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations
- Possess relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge and demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations
- Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.
- Must be able to work comfortably in a variety of desktop settings (Microsoft Office Suite, IBM Lotus Notes, etc.)
Physical: Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Will be required to wear protective or safety equipment
- Flexible regarding travel and shift work
Other: Have the ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
- Be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing
- Possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders, possessing the ability to perform public speaking and training
- Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
- Demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis
- Must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license and a good driving record.
- Possess safety experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees
- Must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must have the ability to work well with others.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Successful completion of a degree from an accredited college or university; or hold a specific HSE certification (CSST, CSSS, CHST or equivalent); or have 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in construction, manufacturing, or production operations
- 3+ years experience managing multiple direct reports
- Additional training certifications and are expected to facilitate site specific training needs.
- Certified Safety Professional preferred.
