We are looking for an EHS Coordinator. This position will provide full time environmental, health, and safety support to the operation and will ensure that all practices are in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Tenneco standards. The position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs. This position drives change and implements programs with the specific intent to prevent injury, occupational illness, and damage to property or the environment as well as ensuring the company is in compliance and drives world-class safety in regards to OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Practices safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
  • Provides leadership in developing, implementing and managing environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, programs, and practices designed to prevent injury, occupational illness, damage to property, and new ideas to drive world-class safety.
  • Collaborates with facility engineers and management to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potential hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Coordinates the storage and handling of hazardous wastes
  • Inspects facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure EHS compliance.
  • Maintains and updates standards and records of employee training, medical examinations, licenses, and certifications
  • Responsible for all EHS compliance with company, local, state, and federal requirements. This will include, but is not limited to management of air permits, associated inspections, associated monitoring, and annual reporting including air emissions, storm water permits, and SARA Title III right to know reporting.
  • Responds to EHS incidents and provides technical support for on-going problem solving and safety investigations.
  • Develops effective communication processes to make EHS priorities and performance visible. Consistently coaching and working with facility leadership to be a visible leader on all aspects of EHS such as accident prevention, safe work practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Prioritizes major hazards and risks across the sites and ensures actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks.
  • Help manage sites' security programs and systems
  • Leads, coordinates, and participates in safety performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provides training or coordinates training for all EHS programs.
  • Manages and develops EHS Coordinators and/or Specialists.

  • Performs duties required to keep business in compliance with all Health and Safety regulations.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies on health, and/or safety issues.


Required Skills:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent experience.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 - 5 years experience in related field.
  • MS Excel (2007 advance user, 2010), proficient with MS Office programs (Office, PowerPoint & Word)
  • Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external.
  • Flexible to change and open to constructive feedback.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
