We are currently seeking field surveys for Wildlife and delineating wetlands to support our biology group in the Parsippany, NJ office. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks, exhibits scientific writing skills, and have experience or a background in wildlife biology, wetland science, botany, and/or soils and hydrology. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to work on diverse projects, possess a high level of self-motivation, and demonstrate ability to successfully execute field tasks. Responsibilities: * Conducting desktop and field wetland assessments/delineations, stream assessments, and wetland function/value assessments. * Consulting with clients regarding wetland and stream permitting alternatives. * Identifying permits for wetland and stream impacts pursuant federal and state permitting programs. * Identifying other necessary permits or agency coordination a project may need. * Preparing and submitting project reports to various agencies and involved parties. * Conducting rare/threatened/endangered species habitat surveys. * Conducting work year-round in adverse weather and rough terrain. * Independently preparing technical reports and permit documents, and maintaining excellent communication with project managers, clients, fellow staff, and subcontractors. * Other duties as assigned or required. Requirements: * B.S./B.A. degree in natural science field of study. * Ability to read and interpret resource mapping. * Experience with local and regional flora and fauna identification. * Ability to key out and identify plants using plant identification manuals. * Experience with soil classification. * Experience with Global Position Systems (GPS). * Well versed in state and federal regulations, the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Manual, and current Regional Supplements. * Experience coordinating with state and federal agencies regarding threatened and endangered species, floodplain development. * Experience with technical report writing. * Ability to travel overnight. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently. Additional Beneficial Skills: * Additional background in fisheries or endangered species. * USACE 40-hour wetland delineation training. * Experience with agency permitting outside of NJ. * Experience with AutoCAD or GIS. Physical Demands & Work Environment: * Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions. * Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels. * Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
