Loparex LLC is the world's largest manufacturer of extrusion base and silicone-coated release liners for the converting industry. We have manufacturing operations throughout the U.S., Europe, China, Thailand, and India. The Iowa City facility has been in operation since 1970 and annually supplies three billion square feet of release liner worldwide.
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and managing all functions relating to safety and to environmental regulatory compliance for the manufacturing facility.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as an active member of the plant leadership team driving accountability for plant safety initiatives.
• Cultivate a culture focused on continuous improvement in safety performance. A culture in which employees are able and willing to engage with each other to keep themselves and their colleagues safe.
• Lead facility Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and employee engagement programs.
• Develop and maintain safety procedures and programs to comply with all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Be the primary resource for all safety, health, and environmental information.
• Lead the investigation and reporting for all safety related incidents.
• Review corrective actions and follow-up to ensure that we are taking appropriate action.
• Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
• Represent the plant for OSHA and environmental investigations.
• Identify the training needs, develop training programs, and secure outside training, as necessary.
• Provide new employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
• Work with human resources to manage workers' compensation claims.
• Responsible for completing environmental reporting for the facility.
• Active member in the plant's Emergency Action team for Hazardous Waste Management.
• Assist with RCRA and hazardous waste handling.
• Attend initial and annual plant hazardous waste training.
• Organize and lead plant safety committees.
• Maintain all safety records for the facility.
• Develop safety initiatives to focus plant safety efforts.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or a combination of education, military experience, and/or work experience.
• Demonstrated success in building a safety culture which fosters full and effective engagement.
• Six (6) to ten (10) years of relevant safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules and regulations.
• Working knowledge of workers' compensation laws.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• CSP certification preferred.
• Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes.
