Advancing Eco Agriculture Microbiologist

Advancing Eco Agriculture is a rapidly growing company in the specialty plant nutrition, and crop consulting industry. We are looking to expand our R&D department with the addition of a qualified Microbiologist. This position will be located in Willoughby, Ohio.

The purpose of the Microbiologist is to further develop AEA's understanding of the soil biome. The role will help us enrich our current understanding and knowledge of the following: What soil microbes are the key players? What environments are conducive and detrimental? How do certain inputs impact soil microbes and their environment?" The Microbiologist will maintain a high level of professionalism with all colleagues and customers.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Evaluation of soil inoculant products currently on the market
  • Development of new soil inoculant products including the identification of novel inoculant species, modes of action, and application methods
  • Delineation of environmental conditions impacting inoculant efficacy, shelf life, storability, and longevity in the field
  • Evaluation of the complete product line for impacts on microbiology
  • Testing raw materials, final products, and stability samples
  • Participation in the development and presentation of technical papers and research project results
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and the regulatory environment surrounding agricultural inoculants through research and attending conferences
  • Improving current laboratory capabilities, equipment, and techniques


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology, Biological Science, Soil Science and/or at least Bachelor of Arts (B. A.) degree in Life Science with a minimum of two years of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with sterile aseptic techniques for laboratory and clean room practices
  • Microbiology testing knowledge (membrane filtration and plate count methods)
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite products
  • GLP training is preferred
  • Current understanding of the inoculant industry and regulations
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to document and communicate clearly
  • A desire to first, seek to understand, then seek to be understood
