Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:

Drives continual improvement of Environmental Management System and maintains ISO 14001 certification.

Oversees all waste management and disposal practices for the facility. Implements best practice waste reduction.

Maintains facility compliance in all environmental aspects including; air, water, waste. Document and maintain evaluations, plans, requirements, protocols, permits and standard operating procedures. File required environmental reports to Federal, State and local regulatory organizations.

Conducts technical audits and inspections of implemented environmental programs to verify compliance and best practice.

Improves manufacturing processes by performing comprehensive evaluation of processes, materials and equipment and identifying areas and methods of improvement that reduce environmental impacts.

Stays current with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations to ensure continuous compliance of processes; develop safety and operational protocols for such processes.

Performs chemical and article reviews for all process substances.

Maintains and develop a relationship with local town authorities.

Develops and provide required environmental health and safety training for affected employees.

Overseas facility safety programs driving continuous improvement, proactive identification and best practices.

Institutes risk & injury reduction techniques using leading indicators and root cause analysis.

Maintains a safety first culture though management involvement and employee participation

Responsible for being the Incident Commander for emergency situations

Performs safety surveys and inspections, develops recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and ensures measures have been implemented

Education/Experience Required:

Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering
Certifications in: hazardous waste management, Department of Transportation
Commitment to workplace safety, sustainability and environmental compliance
Minimum 5-8 years of practical experience, including internships
Proven record of creative and effective problem-solving in the area of manufacturing process improvements
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment
Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office products

Other Requirements:
Project management experience
Participation in professional organizations is strongly encouraged
Knowledge of aerospace industry specifications and standards
Six sigma/lean certification
Incident Command certification
HAZWOPER certification
