Position Overview:

The EH&S Manager plays a key role leading technical environmental health & safety initiatives and developing a Safety -First culture in the company. This includes the development, implementation, continuous improvement, auditing, reporting, and management of all environmental compliance and safety programs. The hands-on position is accountable for DNR/EPA environmental compliance and reporting, monitoring plant environmental and safety conditions, ensuring OSHA workplace compliance, and providing technical knowledge and support to site personnel to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations. The position will focus on updating our current processes and systems with new technology initiatives and works out of our corporate offices in Marion, WI.

Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

· Oversee the development and implementation of the company's environmental management initiatives including HAZCOM, EPA, Air Quality, Water, Combustible Dust, Spill Prevention, etc. regulatory compliance programs

- Ensure that necessary programs are in place to reduce employee and company risk

- Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local regulations

- Establish applicable policies/procedures to ensure a consistent and cost-effective approach

- Develop and conduct site audits and manage necessary corrective actions to completion

- Direct the development of training programs to meet objectives

- Serve as team leader for the First Response/Chemical Spill Teams and other emergency services

- Handle Boiler pressure vessel monitoring, permitting, inspection reviews, and reporting -

- Serve as the principal community liaison with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies

· Oversee the development and implementation of effective industrial hygiene program and a comprehensive corporate safety program, including all elements as noted above plus Lockout/Tagout, Forklift, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, etc.

· Develop strategic Environmental and Safety planning for Company operations.

- Analyze the impact of environmental and safety compliance on proposed projects

- Work with management staff to reduce hazardous wastes and improve workplace safety

- Maintain a thorough understanding of environmental and safety related laws/regulations

- Conduct regular evaluations of the impact of company facilities and operations on the environment

- Maintain control and spending in line with budgeted targets

· Responsible for all internal and external regulatory compliance reporting. Analyze data and trends to identify and monitor results. Manage third parties contracted to provide support

· Ensure safe working environment and techniques and re-enforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures

· Identify plant training needs and then develop and coordinate environmental and safety training programs to meet EPA, OSHA, and company requirements

· Participate in new product/process reviews including machine guarding, job hazard analysis (JHA), and operator training

· Promote environmental and safety awareness through internal communication, postings, and newsletters

· Coordinate with government, fire marshal, and regulatory agencies during all inspections and site visits

· Maintain the Site Emergency Response and Contingency Plan

· Develop and Chair the Corporate Safety Committee for the site location

· Stay abreast of environmental and workplace safety trends, risks, and regulatory developments

· Coordinates vendor relationships to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and cost containment

· Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements, Experience, & Education:

· BS degree in environmental engineering, or safety/industrial hygiene required

· 5+ years related work experience in a manufacturing environment

· Experience with DNR, EPA, OSHA, or similar agencies required

· Experience in policy and procedural development, as well as building employee awareness

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

· Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational abilities, and critical thinking skills

· Ability to conduct training presentations to individuals and small groups of employees

· Collaborative team player able to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external contacts

· Able to work independently with minimal supervision

· Proficient with computers and various software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
