Job Description
Join our team as a Part Time Urban Forestry Survey Technician! At Great Parks, our team members work together to preserve and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor recreation and education in order to enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
Great Parks of Hamilton County is accepting applications for a Part Time Urban Forestry Survey Technician to assist our Arbor team. A successful Urban Forestry Technician performs evaluation and location tracking of trees in parks, primarily in natural areas. This employee proceeds alone or is paired with other employees. Refers unusual or difficult problems or situations to immediate supervisor.
Utilizes guidance from paper maps and digital handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) devices to locate trees, identifies trees to genera and sometimes species level, evaluates tree health, tags and locates position of trees with GPS equipment. Answers questions from adjoining property owners and general public. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: enrolled in associate's/bachelor's degree program in forestry, botany, natural resources, or related field with coursework and/or experience in tree identification with leaf on and leaf off. Experience using professional grade GPS with ArcPad or Terra Sync software is a plus.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
State Motor Vehicle Operator's License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.
Benefits
Starting pay rate is $12.59 per hour.
This position is located out of Glenwood Gardens
Benefits include membership in Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and free or discounted use of many Great Parks of Hamilton County recreational activities.
