Clover Therapeutics - Scientist/Senior Scientist, Stem Cell Biology
Work location: San Carlos, CA
Clover Therapeutics is a precision medicine company that is unlocking the patterns of age-related diseases. Our mission is to use human genetics to understand what drives diseases so we can make better drugs to more effectively treat patients. We view diseases as being as diverse as the patients they impact. That's why we are building clinical genomic databases to characterize the diversity of biological pathways driving disease and to develop pathway-specific precision medicine approaches.
We partner with patients, providers, payers, and scientists to create large deeply phenotyped patient cohorts to enable clinical genomics research. Our approach integrates genomics, longitudinal clinical and imaging data, machine learning, and novel
experimental approaches to discover innovative disease-modifying treatments.
We are seeking a talented Scientist/Senior Scientist to lead development of our stem cell platform to study the genetic drivers of disease. This role will develop iPSC-based in vitro models to support drug discovery, target validation, diagnostic and functional genomics research. Reporting to the head of drug discovery at our labs in the SF Bay Area, this is a scientific leadership role with rapid growth potential and a large impact on the future success of the company. This position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic growing team and directly contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. Ideal candidates will have expertise in human stem cell biology, iPSC differentiation protocols, cell-based assay development and project leadership.
Responsibilities:
? Lead development of genotyped iPSC platform to support drug discovery, target validation, diagnostic and functional genomics research
? Develop methods to differentiate human iPSC lines into various cell types and organoids, with initial focus on ocular cell types such as RPE cells
? Investigate genotype-dependent effects of drug compounds on iPSC-derived in vitro cell models
? Contribute to the evaluation of disease pathways and drug targets
? Lead target validation and early drug discovery research
? Manage and mentor research associates
? Establish and manage research activities with external collaborators and CROs
? Regularly present data and strategy to internal and external audiences of diverse scientific backgrounds
Key qualifications:
? Ph.D. in a relevant biological discipline
? At least 2 years postdoctoral research experience
? At least 3 years hands-on experience in differentiating human iPSC lines into relevant cell types and/or organoids
? Successful leadership of independent research programs
? A track record of scientific excellence as demonstrated by publications or patents
? Supervisory experience
? Excellent communication and collaborative working skills
