About the Opportunity:
- A renowned, award-winning, scientific research institute located in San Diego, CA is looking for a motivated Biology Research Assistant for Immunobiology and Microbial Pathogenesis
- The institute was founded by the developer of the polio vaccine and consistently ranks among the top institutions in the US in terms of research output and quality in the life sciences.
- You will be responsible for performing various cell and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques; mouse handling and colony maintenance, genotyping, etc.
Biology Research Assistant Responsibilities:
- Perform molecular biologies and cell biologies techniques, such as DNA purification, PCR, and gel electrophoresis
- Independently perform molecular cell biology techniques
- Mammalian cell culture, transfections, infections, lysing, thawing, and freezing down cells
- Manage and/or perform maintenance of mouse colony
- Assisting with general laboratory maintenance, including equipment maintenance, and ordering of supplies
Biology Research Assistant Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or related field
- Molecular Biology knowledge preferably in Biochemistry and cell culture
- Must have experience or comfortable handling mice
