Outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Scientist or Computational Biologist to join a dynamic team based out of San Diego CA.

Our client is a dynamic BioTech company who are radically shaking up drug discovery in Next Generation Sequencing analysis in oncology.


Contribute to the identification and characterization of novel targets and mechanisms of oncogenesis
  • Contribute to the application of leading-edge computational technologies for accelerated target evaluation and provide actionable hypotheses for chemical mechanisms of action
  • Support the generation and analysis of various types of omics data for hypothesis generation and testing to enable novel target discovery, drug mechanisms of action, patient selection strategies, and drug resistance mechanisms
  • Lead multi-omics integration, biological network modeling, biostatistics and systems approaches to drug discovery
  • Organization of code into pipelines and version control repositories
  • Interact routinely with Biology, Chemistry and Bioinformatics teams to integrate knowledge and develop an understanding of complex biological systems
  • Present scientific data to colleagues and assist in the preparation of internal and external presentations (oral, posters, and publications)

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field
  • 2+ years experience in utilizing computational approaches to understand cancer biology and/or drug discovery in an industry or academic setting
  • Extensive knowledge and experience cancer genetics, functional genomics, cancer biology and deep molecular phenotypic profiling for drug discovery
  • Broad knowledge of Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and assay development
  • Deep expertise in bioinformatics, biostatistics and computational biology techniques
  • Expertise in downstream analysis and integration of omics data (including but not limited to scRNAseq, RNAseq, WGS/WES, ChipSeq, ATACseq, TMT, genome scale CRISPR)
  • Expertise in code repositories and building standardized pipelines
  • Expertise in bash and R scripting, in job scheduling software (Slurm) and in working in a Linux environment
  • Highly organized with experience in managing large quantities of data across multiple project teams
  • Deep experience working with bioinformaticians, biologists and chemists.
  • Proven track record of scientific contributions in computational biology, functional genomics and drug discovery as evidenced by quality and quantity of publications and presentations
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to provide novel creative solutions to challenging problems. Desire to learn and tackle new challenges and initiatives
  • Level and compensation will be commensurate with experience
