We want you to be a member of the Waste Management Programs Group in the Environmental Protection and Compliance Division (EPC-WMP) at LANL to participate in waste management compliance assessments. Within the EPC-WMP Group, you will be part of a dynamic team that supports the disposition of non-hazardous, chemical, and radioactive wastes resulting from LANL's mission and provide waste management customer service to waste generators with a commitment to environmental policies.

As a member of the EPC-WMP Assessor team, you will be responsible for:

+ Conducting audits and assessments of waste activities including characterization, generation, storage, and transportation.

+ Performing observations and preparing assessment reports and documents aligned with Nuclear Quality Assurance - 1 expectations.

+ Comprehending and applying the Laboratory's waste management policies, practices, and procedures to independently make fact-based decisions.

+ Understanding and applying quality assurance practices and principles related to environmental management.

+ Offering knowledge and skill in hazardous and radioactive waste management requirements.

+ Helping to identify and develop methods and techniques for improving the assessment process.

+ Fostering a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

**_What You Need_**

**Minimum Job Requirements:**

+ Familiarity and/or experience working within a team environment and the ability to deal with established deadlines and short timeframes.

+ Familiarity and/or experience performing assessments related to waste management and/or environmental compliance.

+ Demonstrated experience working with limited instruction to independently research, collect, and interpret information and evaluate observations to identify potential issues.

+ Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports, assessment reports, audit findings, and/or related documents.

**Education/Experience** : Position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and minimum of five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Desired Qualifications:**

+ Knowledge or familiarity with Department of Energy waste management practices and procedures.

+ Experience with waste characterization, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or radioactive/transuranic waste management.

+ Current Nuclear Quality Assurance - 1, Lead Auditor, or Auditor Certification.

+ Active Q clearance.

**_Location:_** This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

**Clearance: Q** (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

* Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

**New-Employment Drug Test:** The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

**Regular position:** Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

**Internal Applicants:** Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
