Description of Work
The postdoctoral associate will contribute to the integrated (extension, research, and teaching) land-grant mission of the home unit and the IANR , as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy.

The postdoctoral associate will work on genomics, epigenetics, and/or bioinformatics/computational biology to characterize and functionally validate plant cell-type-specific transcriptional programs, their regulation in response to environmental stresses, and their differential regulation between plant species.

Depending on research experience and skills, the selected postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to work on the following projects:
Comparative analysis of gene expression in root/leaf single-cell between crop species;
Analysis of plant single cell -omics datasets, integration of multiomics datasets, and prediction of gene networks;
Development of bioinformatics and computational tools to enhance the analysis of plant single cell omics datasets.

This project presents opportunities to work in a collaborative and very dynamic environment with computational and molecular biologists. The University of Nebraska provides a stimulating atmosphere with excellent facilities including single-cell genomics facilities (e.g., https://libaultlab.unl.edu/single-cell-genomics-core-facility ) and colleagues for high-quality research in agricultural and plant sciences.

As appropriate to the appointment, the incumbent will: develop a high-impact, nationally and internationally recognized research program in the fields of bioinformatics and plant single cell biology; seek and establish effective disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations including effective integration with research groups; connect with stakeholders, agency, and/or industry partners to strengthen research programming; effectively obtain and leverage external and internal support (grants, fee revenue, etc.) for research activities; mentor graduate students; publish in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and participate in scientific meetings and other appropriate professional activities; and, translate research-based information into learner-centered products. This includes: creating scholarly, innovative, and high impact learning programs and tools; identifying issues and opportunities focused on learner needs and emerging regional and national issues with international relevance; measuring the impact of your programs and communicating results to administrators, stakeholders, users, and media; and, mentoring colleagues through professional development, translational research, grants, and professional writing.

In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.
