Cardno, now Stantec, is seeking a Field Ecologist in our Indianapolis, IN office. This position will implement project work in the ecological consulting and restoration management fields requiring vegetation monitoring, wetland assessments, understanding of Midwest ecological systems both terrestrial and aquatic, characterization of vegetative communities, data analysis and technical writing, and a working knowledge of ecological restoration. Additional opportunities may include wetland delineations, endangered species surveys and wildlife surveys.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·Collect field data, data analysis, and report preparation

·Knowledge of or experience with wetland communities and delineation methodologies

·Knowledge of or experience with vegetation monitoring sampling methodologies

·Use of GPS for field data collection

·Soil Identification

·Identify Field Indicators of Hydric Soils

·Invasive species identification and management practices

·Able and willing to assist our restoration and maintenance teams with field work

Minimum Requirements:

·Bachelor's degree or higher in botany, plant ecology, wetlands ecology, riparian ecology, conservation biology, or related science

·3+ years' of related experience

·Strong plant identification skills including wetland species

·Knowledge and facility with appropriate Midwest botanical references

·Must have field botany skills and ability to conduct field work, at times for long hours or under strenuous circumstances

·Excellent oral and written communication skills

·Positive, flexible, team-oriented approach, with the willingness and desire to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team

·Strongly detail oriented and able to work as part of a team and independently

·Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word & Excel

·Ability to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations with some overnight travel capacity

·Valid Driver's License

·Ability to complete field safety requirements and follow Cardno's Zero Harm Safety Program

Desired Qualifications:

·Strong ecology/biology background

·Wetland delineation experience

·Effective time management and follow-through, with the ability to simultaneously work on and lead multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines

·Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a team oriented work environment

·Positive and energetic attitude; Self-motivated with strong initiative

·Excellent interpersonal skills

·Strong business/client orientation with long familiarity with budgets and project management
