Environmental Specialist

Reports to: Chief of Staff- Shared Services

Department: Shared Services

Classification: Exempt Date Modified: 4/7/22

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completing compliance permitting, monitoring, and reporting for multiple site operations
  • Read, interpret, and remain up to date on governmental regulations
  • Obtain environmental permits for company projects
  • Manage projects with the aim of enhancing sampling and analysis processes, procedures, and records
  • Interact with regulators, facility staff, and facility leadership as a subject matter expert for environmental regulations and requirements
  • Implement Systems: Develop and implement systems to manage programs or day-to-day activities of the workforce across all environmental functions
  • Conduct and develop employee training to support environmental compliance
  • Evaluate and develop site practices and procedures to continuously improve environmental compliance and stewardship

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office atmosphere. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or other related field
  • Valid, current driver's license
  • Current OSHA/MSHA safety training
  • 5 years minimum environmental reporting and compliance experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite, preferably Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of current environmental best management practices
  • Must demonstrate persistence, resolve, resourcefulness, and a high degree of ethical standards and professionalism
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
