Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Subject Matter Expert supporting the facilities in Dow's Sabine River Operations site (SRO) located in Orange, TX. This position partners with the Facility Environmental Specialists to ensure compliance and implementation of various environmental legal requirements as part of the Dow management system in multiple environmental disciplines (air, water and waste) to ensure Dow continues to be a leader in sustainability.

Responsibilities / Duties
  • Improve documentation (drawings, composition, tagging, etc.) of applicable Benzene Waste Operations NESHAP (BWON) waste streams; develop BWON sampling plans as needed, and update BWON Total Annual Benzene (TAB) report.
  • Implement/ensure sustainable management system to evaluate BWON applicability for new waste generated, in addition to other BWON requirements.
  • Update various MACT Notification of Compliance Status documents, especially MON and Ethylene.
  • Create procedures for periodic reports such as MACT and BWON and other environmental tasks, including adding to task scheduling tool.
  • Prepare training, procedures, inspection checklists, etc. needed for Operations personnel to fully understand and comply with permits and requirements focusing especially on BWON and MON.
  • Assist with implementation projects for new control devices to ensure sustainable compliance, including Title V reasonable inquiry.
  • Ensure effective and sustainable process for hazardous waste determinations and appropriate disposal options.
  • Develop a RCRA Waste Management Plan.
  • Ensure appropriate instrument calibration/maintenance program, including effective and sustainable scheduling, recordkeeping, and periodic verification for instruments used for regulatory compliance.
  • Initiate and support management of change (MOC) by thoroughly reviewing changes for potential regulatory/permit impact to proactively address change
  • Collaborate with Environmental Specialists to implement sustainable work processes to support on-going environmental compliance


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Subject matter expert in BWON, MON, RCRA and/or Texas water permitting/compliance for chemical manufacturing facilities in Texas
  • Demonstrate strong logical thinking and computational skills in order to ensure compliance with regulatory and permit conditions and limits
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Environmental and operations personnel
  • Enthusiastically pursue a standard of excellence by developing innovative solutions to provide maximum operational flexibility and competitive advantage while also protecting our planet
  • Handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Demonstrate clear, concise and articulate communications and effective listening skills
  • Adapt positively to change


Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related fields is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience is required.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Ability to work on-site and enter chemical production facilities in Orange, TX including climbing stairs/ladders
