About you
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist within our Product Safety Research group that is part of our Toxicology and Environment Research & Consulting Team. You would be located in Midland, MI as this role is aligned to the laboratory where investigative research is conducted to ensure sustainability of our chemistries across all of Dow's businesses. Specifically, you will be exploring how to take health and environmental evaluations beyond regulatory requirements for our chemistries.

About you
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist within our Product Safety Research group that is part of our Toxicology and Environment Research & Consulting Team. You would be located in Midland, MI as this role is aligned to the laboratory where investigative research is conducted to ensure sustainability of our chemistries across all of Dow's businesses. Specifically, you will be exploring how to take health and environmental evaluations beyond regulatory requirements for our chemistries.
Responsibilities:
- Apply scientific knowledge, technical skills, and leadership to deliver high quality scientific results that are aligned with business requests and statements of work
- Work with Dow colleagues to develop testing approaches and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Generate sound research data, interpretation of results, and data handling
- Responsible for overall project/study management, including protocol generation, in-life data recording, study report, financial tracking, and study timeline
- Coordinates available resources and leverages broader expertise from within Dow and/or with contract research organizations
- Understands and follows appropriate EH&S standards, policies, and procedures applicable to their job. Leads by example in the area of safety behaviors and promotes safe work habits
- Document study results and and incorporates any contributing scientist reports in a final report according to the business request, Statement of Work, study protocol, and report templates if available
Required qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in chemistry, biology, engineering, or related fields
- Must have experience in chromatographic analytical techniques including GC, GC/MS, LC, and LC/MS
- Hands-on experience in conducting laboratory research studies
- Familiarity with and willing to operate under Good Laboratory Practices and will work closely with Dow scientists to develop study designs and protocols
- Must be willing to work in an animal facility
Your preferred qualifications include:
- Use of Carbon 14 radioisotopes experience
Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret study results
- Work independently and within a multidisciplinary team setting
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- A passion for solving complex research problems and exploring the unknown
