Wetland Scientist/Wildlife Biologist

CP&Y, an STV Company is seeking a Wetland Scientist/Wildlife Biologist to join our firm.

This position can be based in Austin, Dallas, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Houston

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or closely related field with 4-6 years' experience performing wetland delineations and ecological investigations and preparing environmental documentation required under NEPA. Technical writing, data collection, plant identification, quantitative analysis, report writing and experience with ArcGIS are important skills for qualified candidates. Location flexible - Texas or Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare environmental documentation for NEPA projects
• Lead environmental and natural resources surveys, including wetland and stream assessments and habitat assessments in accordance with regulatory guidelines
• Prepare field equipment, plan field logistics and provide oversight of data management.
• Utilize GPS equipment and other tools to collect accurate data in the field
• Prepare technical reports for natural resources studies
• Analyze data using ArcGIS

Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or closely related field
• 4-6 years' professional experience
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Knowledge of ArcGIS
• Ability to travel and conduct field work (approximately 20% of time)
• Completion of Wetland Delineation Training Course
• Minimum 1 year in lead role, performing wetland delineations and mentoring junior staff
• Ability to take detailed field notes, including photo logs and environmental descriptions
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and project managers
