SPECIALIST, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Based in Chesapeake, VA
Dollar Tree has been experiencing rapid growth since we closed on our acquisition of Family Dollar stores. We are now immersed in integrating the two banners consisting of 16,000 stores, 25 distribution centers and over $19B in sales in North America. By store count, Dollar Tree is the largest retailer in the United States and continues to grow.

The Specialist, Environmental Health and Safety, will support and assist in developing comprehensive environmental health and safety compliance programs for Dollar Tree Stores and Distribution Centers. This role will focus on compliance and project support through document preparation/response, database maintenance, reporting, and regulatory compliance to ensure compliance with Dollar Tree policies, procedures, as well as the applicable environmental health and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Complete regulatory reporting in all applicable states for Stores. Includes Federal, State and Local jurisdiction requirements.
Maintain database of components required for comprehensive environmental health and safety reporting.
Gather documentation to assist in formulation of response to environmental health and safety related regulatory inquiries, inspections and violations from store management, field management and regulators.
Prepare formal return to compliance correspondence.
Maintain regulatory compliance tracking for all Stores.
Review, follow-up, track and provide certification of abatement documentation for deficiencies found in all internal and external monitoring of EH&S related programs.
Track and report applicable vendor reporting findings and recommendations to field management.
Provide monthly report on all monitoring activity for Stores.
Monitor and maintain Hazardous Waste inbox.
Provide field management and stores environmental health and safety related support by phone and email to support compliance.
Track and report regulatory activity.
Provide information and support to merchant team and vendors for ongoing registration process for applicable products
Monitor regulatory updates from EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
Analyze change and contribute to strategies to update applicable programs, procedures and or policies.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education required.
3 years of experience in Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Health or Business.
Must have the ability to turn data into actionable information.
Previous experience with regulatory reporting (forms, permits, licenses, electronic reporting, waste generation, accident etc.)
Previous experience creating Standard Operating Procedures
The ability to effectively communicate regulatory requirement to store and field management when requesting documentation for abatement (violations/inspections)
Analyze and communicate trends within a particular district or region for regulatory activity audit results
Effective communication both written and verbal. Must be comfortable presenting EH&S material at all levels of the business.
Familiar with the industry/technical terms and process.
Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Escalate inspections and violations to the Director level when penalties or severity reach a set threshold.
