Senior Scientist, Computational Biology at Decibel Therapeutics

We are seeking a highly motivated computational biologist to work with us in using single cell genomics to help develop a new wave of gene therapies for patients with hearing and balance disorders. You will be a critical member of the Molecular Platform team and join cross-functional project teams utilizing innovative genomics technologies to shape the exploration of novel targets and design of new therapies. What you will do:
  • Drive drug discovery projects by generating compelling new insights through integrative analysis, visualization, and interpretation of genomic, biochemical, and cellular data
  • Establish pipelines and data integration paradigms to support the development of a robust multi-omics platform for the design of precision gene therapies, including single-cell RNA-seq data and epigenetics data (single cell ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN) across species
  • Contribute to the establishment of analytical tools to enable the interpretation and optimization of novel singe cell high-throughput screening methods deployed to facilitate accelerated validation of candidate gene therapy components
  • Leverage machine learning and statistical approaches as needed to establish and benchmark predictive models of biological data
  • Design and develop innovative, robust analysis pipelines that can be applied in a research and clinical setting
What you will bring:
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics or a related discipline with 2+ years of post-graduate/industry experience
  • Proficiency in R and Python as applied to computational biology
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze single cell data (scRNA-seq, sNuc-seq, scATAC-seq), including strong knowledge of gene regulatory network and trajectory inference methods
  • Experience analyzing epigenetic data (ChIP-seq/CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq) as it pertains to gene regulation
  • Experience with genomics data integration and biological pathway analysis methods
  • Strong understanding of cellular and molecular biology
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by strong publication track record
  • Understanding of hearing biology highly desirable
