The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Northeast
Area, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Soybean Genomics and
Improvement Laboratory, in Beltsville, Maryland, is seeking a Supervisory
Research Geneticist/Plant Pathologist/Molecular Biologist (Plants) to join our
internationally recognized research team. The mission of the Laboratory is to
discover and apply fundamental information needed to solve research problems
associated with the genetic control and improvement of important traits in soybean
and common bean. Research priorities focus on genetic and physiological bases of
abiotic and biotic stress, seed composition/quality, and crop productivity. Novel
strategies are required to provide new fundamental knowledge and useful research
tools to solve agriculturally relevant problems. As Research Leader, the incumbent
demonstrates creativity and productivity in personal research and brings
originality, resourcefulness, and ingenuity to management of the overall research
unit, development of collaborative research teams, and maintaining positive
stakeholder relationships.
