Job Description
The Environmental Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and has responsibility for facility wide environmental control. This includes the maintenance of, compliance with, and the reporting for all applicable Federal and State environmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining and implementing the Environmental Management System, including development, implementation, and maintenance of effective environmental procedures for all areas throughout the facility as necessary to meet or exceed all applicable regulatory and permit requirements
- Complete all environmental compliance reporting required by permits including Title V, NPDES, water treatment and distribution, etc.
- Develop and maintain a high degree of communication and rapport with Department and Agency representatives to continue the excellent compliance reputation for the company
- Inspect and audit the facility with regards to compliance, as well as and Environmental Global Policies
- Follow and maintain an acute awareness of developing environmental regulations that may pertain to the activities of the organization.
- Evaluate process deviations and new equipment (including capital projects) and make appropriate recommendations for maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and permit requirements
- Train colleagues to respond to environmental emergencies and other environmental topics
- Provide quick response, aid, coordination, and communication in the event of any adverse environmental incident or complaint
- Update and implement plans, specifications and documentation for managing the hazardous chemical substances including supervision of handling and disposal
- Supervise the work of colleagues and outside contractors who are involved in handling hazardous material
- Coordinate the waste management program
- Report on environmental issues and statistics
Qualifications
Qualifications
- BS/BA Engineering/Environmental Science/Technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years in environmental compliance and reporting
- Previous experience with both Title V Air Permits and NPDES permits
- Experience with CEMS (stack instruments) and stack testing preferred
- Experience with an Environmental Management System in heavy industry preferred
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
