If you are a Health & Safety professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Boulder, CO location, you will, under minimal supervision and direction, coordinate assigned safety programs and support safety initiatives.
You will administer and monitor occupational safety and health compliance programs to ensure the site maintains a safe and healthful operation which meets company objectives and regulatory requirements.
AS A SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST, YOU WILL:
  • Provide support, expertise and reporting (metrics) for the EHS electronic management system
  • Provide support, expertise and reporting for EHS training related to the Global Learning System
  • Conduct research on EHS, Workers Compensation and Security requirements (regulatory and corporate)
  • Perform basic risk assessments, equipment reviews and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) as the team leader and recommend/implement effective controls
  • Conduct instructor-led training on subjects including but not limited to: Hazard Communication, Storm Water Management, New Employee Orientation, Chemical Safety, PPE, Hearing Conservation, Ladders/Fall Pro, Ergonomics, Flammable Liquids, Hazardous Waste
  • Coordinate and participate in routine safety audits/inspections
  • Administer the PPE program for employee purchases of safety glasses, shoes, hearing protection, etc.
  • Interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and manage an SDS database
  • Ensure EHS monitoring equipment is maintained in good condition, calibrated and ready to use at all times
  • Perform noise surveys, air monitoring, mapping and drafting written reports
  • Conduct monthly hazardous waste inspections
  • Ensure workplace safety posters (e.g. Department of Labor, Emerson Corp., etc.) are up-to-date and maintained in the appropriate notification areas
  • Assist with development and implementation of basic EHS programs
  • Serve as a resource to management and EHS staff on matters relating to occupational health & safety, emergency response, hazard identification and control, etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee the emergency action plans including coordination of annual drills
  • Assist with management of incidents, audits, inspection and action items
  • Conduct office ergonomic assessments
  • Maintain a current knowledge of EHS laws and regulations

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related field
  • Combination of professional certification, education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • This position requires strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and expertise in Environmental, Health, Safety & Security laws and regulations
  • Must have strong customer service orientation, able to deliver results, and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and initiatives

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Professional certification (ASP, OHST, CHMM, etc.) preferred
