Environmental Health and Safety Technician (Nashville, TN)

Position Overview:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician will promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations. This position reports directly to EHS Manager and dotted line/inditrectly to Plant Manager.

Position Location:

This position will be located at our office and manufacturing plant at 2935 Sidco Road Nashville, TN 37204. Successful candidate must live within a reasonable commuting distance. Local candidates will be given first consideration. The EHS Technician works 100% ONSITE and not a remote position. Work Schedule is typically Monday through Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm (approximately), but may require additional hours.

Responsibilities:

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

Update and maintain all site EHS programs

Perform EHS audits and incident investigations as necessary

Identify, document and resolve safety system weaknesses

Ensure compliance with local, state and federal health and safety regulations

Conduct daily and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of facility

Maintain records of facilities inspections, corrective actions, training documentation, and document control.

Lead in the development and implementation of safety programs, policies and procedures in multiple areas of operations in the facility.

Develop and conduct the training required for all employees in all areas of health and safety standards

Lead investigation of incidents to identify their root causes and assist in the development of preventative measures as well as analyzing accident and incidents for trends

Complete all required documentation, paperwork, and recordkeeping

Coordinate of inspections, assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to identify potential hazards, and ensures compliance with all applicable safety and environmental rules.

Promote and maintain a safe work environment.

Lead safety team and the safety committee.

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Required

2 to 3 years in a Safety Experience Role within a Manufacturing environment.

1+ years of Lean Manufacturing Experience.

OSHA 30 hour course completion.

Excellent listening skills, experience gathering facts/data and providing solutions for problems/challenges. These actions could include collaborating with engineers and operations for problem solving and implementing solutions..

Being proactive and detailed to discover /uncover any possible future issues.

Self-starter and proven ability to work with minimal onsite supervision

Basic Excel experience.

Previous experience using Poweroint and delivering presentations.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety field or related discipline AND/OR

Certified OSHA Trainer or OSHA Certificate/Degree Program.

Prior experience within OSHA or responsible for adhering to OSHA regulations.

Ergonomist or Industrial Hygienist experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Other physical tasks required include pushing, reaching, climbing, and stooping to perform tasks.

Daily working in a noisy plant environment

Ability to Stand/walk on concrete floors for long periods of time.

Must wear approved PPE at all times in the plant.
