A Research Analyst I position is available in the Cardiac Electrophysiology and Tissue Engineering laboratory of Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University under Professor Nenad Bursac, beginning immediately. Responsibilities include: dissociation and culture of neonatal rat cardiomyocytes, plasmid cloning and mini and mid preps, preparation of viral vectors, qPCR, lab management, day-to-day lab operations, ordering and restocking of supplies, maintenance of equipment, implementation of safety rules and SOPs. The applicant should possess advanced organizational skills, be able to work alone and in a team, troubleshoot encountered problems, and prepare and maintain various types of documentation using Excel, Google applications, Power Point. Will occasionally train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in molecular biology techniques, the use of laboratory equipment, SOPs, and assist in writing and reviewing of animal protocol amendments. Required qualifications: B.S. degree in biology, biomedical engineering, or related fields with at least 2 years experience in lab management, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques. Experiences with Duke ordering system, Safety office, and IACUC are highly desirable. Applications will be reviewed as they are received until position is filled. Cell isolation and culture 15% Minimum Qualifications Education Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field. Experience Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
