Responsibilities:

What You'll Be Doing

Countries across the globe are exploring pathways to adapt to climate change, rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve sustainable development through investment in renewable energy and electric vehicle deployment. The Cadmus International Climate and Energy team works with countries seeking to pursue more sustainable pathways for development through climate mitigation and adaptation planning, resilience building, as well as diversification, decarbonization, and strengthening of infrastructure and energy systems. Our team works directly with governments regulators, and the private sector in emerging markets, through the support of several donor agencies, to:

Increase deployment of distributed renewable energy and electric vehicles, expand electricity services, improve electricity sector governance, and increase the resilience of energy systems to withstand unexpected shocks.

Plan, design, and implement climate mitigation and adaptation measures.

Develop tools and resources for climate change, resilience building, and disaster risk reduction/management among a range of areas, including infrastructure, energy, natural resource management, waste management, and water.

Achieve net zero emissions and/or carbon neutrality through a range of services such as carbon accounting, GHG emissions analysis, policy development and implementation, and strategic planning.

Cadmus seeks an experienced consultant to offer technical support and leadership for our international climate and energy portfolio. Climate and Energy consultants manage teams across multiple projects to:

Analyze, assess, and recommend optimal policy and regulatory frameworks to achieve national climate change and energy priorities and objectives;

Analyze, assess and articulate the business case for renewable energy and electric vehicles to government, NGO, and private sector audiences.

Develop international best-practice guides, strategies, and other materials;

Develop and deliver trainings on core topics related to climate change, electricity regulation and renewable energy;

Support the implementation of programs to develop markets for sustainable climate change and clean energy technologies internationally.

The ideal candidate will combine international experience in development contexts and/or emerging markets, with strong technical knowledge of policy and regulatory frameworks to support climate change and clean energy. The candidate should have knowledge across topics including climate mitigation, climate adaptation, electricity sector governance, electric vehicles, renewable energy and storage policy and regulation, tariff setting and rate design, and economic analysis. Exceptionally strong writing, project management skills and experience with successful proposal writing and business development will also be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

Provide project management and oversight to ensure timely delivery of client deliverables.

Conduct work (e.g., research, qualitative and quantitative analysis and policy support, report writing and presentation development) across a range of international climate and energy projects.

Lead and manage consulting teams to develop policy, regulatory and economic analysis for international energy and climate change projects.

Lead and manage consulting teams in implementing programs to develop climate strategies and/or sustainable energy markets, with a focus on solar PV, battery storage, and electric vehicles.

Coach junior staff in reaching career goals and managing day-to-day work.

Lead development and implementation of trainings, workshops, webinars, reports, and other activities to train others on issues in international energy and climate change.

Deliver technical assistance for international government staff, policy-makers, international development agencies, corporate or non-profit clients.

Work collaboratively with senior staff to enhance Cadmus' existing international energy and climate change service offerings and develop new offerings.

Support development and execution of business development plans.

Support expansion and maintenance of key client relationships.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

A Master's degree in energy management, planning, public policy, economics, law or business, engineering, or in a related field; Additional years of experience in relevant subject areas may substitute

5+ years' of relevant work experience, which preferably includes at least two of the following:2+ years in consulting, professional services, or international donor-funded organizations.

4+ years of experience in climate change and/or energy.

1+ years of international experience working in development contexts or emerging markets

Understanding of issues in climate change and mitigation/adaptation/resilience planning, energy and/or electricity markets, particularly related to issues facing developing countries.

Demonstrated project management and/or budget management experience, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.

Experience in proposal development and business capture.

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Passion for excellence and delivering client value on mission driven projects

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Proven ability in business development and sales.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizens

Post-Covid, candidates will be required to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with policies to support distributed solar PV, battery storage, and electric vehicles.

Experience with or exposure to electricity rate design and tariff setting.

Experience with economic modeling and/or analysis of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and battery storage projects.

Experience with or exposure to projects funded by the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, or USAID.

Record of publication, presentations, and/or thought leadership activities.

Fluency in French or Spanish.

The position will be remote until offices reopen, pending the lifting of restrictions due to COVID-19. When Cadmus offices do reopen, the position will be based in our Arlington, VA or Boston, MA office.
