Job Summary

The EHS Coordinator provides leadership for assigned regulatory programs in air, water, waste, land, and hazardous materials and is responsible for all areas related to health, safety, and the environment. The EHS Coordinator will be familiar with Title V air requirements, waste water treatment processes, hazardous waste management, ISO 14001 program, and industrial health issues. This position acts as a point of contact for compliance issues within the plant.

The job duties include but not limited to: reporting requirements such as Tier II, TRI, GHG, storm water and wastewater DMR's, Maintaining SPCC/SWPPP, ISO 14001 program and recertification, identifying sources of non-compliance, and preparing countermeasures or recommending improvements. The EHS Coordinator must have working knowledge of workers compensation and all related health and safety programs such as LOTO, confined space, machine guarding, safety devices, and the ability to train employees.

The EHS Coordinator must have experience in compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to track KPI's. This position will serve as the leader in multiple projects and committees and being accountable for continuous improvement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties

· Collaborates with other department leaders in developing department goals and objectives, meets as needed to discuss targets and countermeasures or recommend disciplinary action when incidents arise.
  • Responsible for tracking Key Performance Indicators, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, tracking trends to measure company targets, and recommending countermeasures if needed
  • Communicates data weekly, monthly and yearly in a variety of methods and meetings

· Handles task management and assists with interdisciplinary coordination

· Provides advice and counseling for all compliance regulations and is the main source of knowledge to ensure safe associate activities are relative to the nature and scope of business activities

· Plans, coordinates, and supports Maintenance activities during shutdown periods (July & December) with confined space monitoring, on site contractor monitoring safety and schedules, LOTO, and requires long hours during these periods of time

· Ensures all associates, managers, and supervisors are adequately trained in their responsibilities within the plant EHS programs; including new hire orientation and refresher trainings

· Recommends and implements approved EHS programs and policies and ensures continuing compliance with State, Federal and local regulations

· Acts as the Emergency Action Plan Manager and oversees emergency situations including fire, severe weather, chemical spills, accidents etc.

· Conducts investigations for all work-related injuries/incidents/near misses, utilizing the 5-Why method, providing results to plant management and corporate risk management, and follows up with associates concerns

· Leads monthly countermeasure meetings to discuss open/closed incidents and their countermeasures

· Maintains all environmental, health, and safety records and permits relating to the position

· Ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory reporting are met in a timely manner including the timely destruction of such records in accordance to the ISO Company EMS standards

· Coordinates Emergency First Responder Trainings and re-certifies to remain certified

· Tracks KPI's on a variety of items, including but not limited to: monthly incident tracking board, injury areas and locations, near misses, and PPE

· Oversees support personnel and contractor safety program
