Job Summary

Would you like to gain relevant, hands-on paid experience as an Environmental Science Intern working with a professional multidisciplinary consulting firm?! Look no further than DJ&A.

We are looking for candidates currently enrolled at a college or university who desire to build a career in the Environmental Science field to join our Missoula office during the summer of 2022. Our clients include the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, just to name a few. Our Environmental Group works on a variety of projects, including NEPA analysis, wetland delineations, wildlife surveys and inventories, rangeland monitoring, riparian monitoring and assessments, and many more.

We are looking for candidates with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, read and understand scientific publications, proficiently write technical scientific documents, and identify vegetation including invasive and noxious weeds. We also desire candidates who have field experience, good communication skills, basic knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, and a desire to gain experience across a wide range of ecological disciplines, both in the office and in the field.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to sit at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds or potentially more weight if packing for field trips.

· Comfortable traveling to, working, hiking, and driving in various (and sometimes remote) locations.

· Walk/hike in varying elevations, and/or perform physical tasks required for environmental monitoring for durations lasting up to ten hours under all weather conditions including potential extremes such as hot, cold, wet, or dry conditions.

· Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas that may include steep and rough terrain, dense vegetation, insects, and wet, muddy, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
