Overview:
MSA is looking for a full time Senior Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in either the Baraboo or Madison, WI office locations. In general, this person will engage in varied technical work relating to environmental site investigation and remediation, groundwater and soil sampling, landfill monitoring and compliance reporting, and Phase I, II, & III environmental site assessments. The Senior Environmental Scientist provides environmental assessments, technical reports, and evaluations for environmental projects. The position serves as a senior specialist or consultant by planning and directing projects, analyzing complex issues, and developing appropriate solutions. Assists in project development by providing technical input on the environmental aspects of a project and assists in proposals and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities:
The work you will do
Staff coordination and oversight for local environmental group members
Guide field sampling activities for site investigations and clean-up
Lead local environmental group interaction with other internal service lines
Prepare technical reports for projects
Provide technical review of projects
Coordinate meetings with clients, the public, local officials, regulators and contractors
While field work is not a primary responsibility of this position, the preferred candidate should have working knowledge of soil and groundwater sampling techniques and protocols and be prepared to assist with such activities at an anticipated ratio of 5-10% of their time
Project management, contracting, cost estimates and client invoicing
Assist with marketing, proposals, and project interviews
Qualifications:
What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or physical science with an emphasis in environmental or a related degree required.
5 or more years of previous related work experience required (10 years preferred)
OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HazWoper) Training and Refreshers is preferred
Knowledge of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources ( WDNR) and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency MPCA) rules and statutes required
Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
