Join Cardno's Science and Environment team in Sacramento or Concord, CA to play an integral role in assessing complex projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete clearances on a timely basis. Job Description: Cardno is seeking a Wildlife Biologist III in our Sacramento or Concord, CA office to assist a multidisciplinary team of accomplished environmental scientists, including engineers, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists, and planners on a variety of projects in northern and central. Primary duties include review of utility projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete clearances on a timely basis. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Review client requests for environmental clearance to ensure they provide adequate information. Provide technical review of project documents, feedback and mentoring to junior staff. Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure proper reviews and/or surveys are completed by Cardno staff or subcontractors according to client schedule. Provide biological expertise and guidance for the permitting and/or construction monitoring for large utility scale construction projects Manage a portfolio of work and maintain schedules, cost controls and subconsultant support Coordinate with Cardno, subcontractor, and client staff to ensure surveys and monitoring are conducted according to client guidance and all safety requirements Coordinate technical specialists in the field with biological (wildlife/avian), aquatic, botanical and water quality survey and monitoring efforts Lead research and compiling/summarizing data and information for project environmental compliance in collaboration with technical specialists Coordinate Preconstruction resource surveys and construction monitoring activities to ensure consistency with permit requirements Provide training and oversight for entry/junior level Cardno team members Basic Qualifications: 8 plus years of experience Bachelor degree (or higher) in biology, ecology, environmental studies or related field. Working knowledge of State (CA) and Federal regulations and experience linear projects environmental permitting. Demonstrated experience complying with local, state and/or federal environmental regulatory permits CEQA compliance experience Knowledge of, and experience with, California flora and wildlife/avian species and habitats, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area, inland valleys and/or coastal habitats Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook Willing and able to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment Strong time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines Self-motivated with strong initiative Desired Qualifications: Previous experience in the environmental planning, permitting and construction support for California utility infrastructure projects Environmental consulting experience Proven track record of building client relationships and providing client solutions Experience using Salesforce and/or other project management platforms Equal Opportunity statement for US based applicants Cardno is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
