The Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for site wide leadership and technical expertise to implement EHS programs to manage EHS risk, ensure regulatory compliance and improve safety for the Carlsbad manufacturing site and a small satellite site. This position is part of the Global EHS function and site leadership team, reporting to a regional EHS Manager located in Carlsbad, CA and will be on-site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: * Environmental: * Manage the hazardous materials/waste management, bio-hazardous waste management, universal waste management, chemical use, industrial waste-water, stormwater, air emissions programs * Conduct training as needed * Maintains all necessary regulatory reporting and permitting * Health and Safety: * Oversee hazard communication, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, respiratory protection, emergency response plan, injury and illness prevention, incident investigations and corrective actions, personnel protective equipment selection, bloodborne pathogens, laboratory safety, job hazard analysis, forklift safety, fall protection, lockout/tagout and machine guarding, contractor safety, new hire orientation and training. * EHS Regulatory: * Primary contact for site regulatory agencies; oversees maintenance of required regulatory and program reports, permits, and related documentation; provides technical expertise to resolve complex technical and regulatory issues. * Reporting site-specific EHS metrics. The essential requirements of the job include: * BA/BS in Occupational Safety, I/H, Environmental, or related discipline. * 9+ years experience with Bachelors degree, or 7+ years experience with Masters * Certified Biosafety Professional (BCSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred. * Proficient in OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard, applied industrial ergonomic principles, behavior-based safety concepts, and risk assessment methodologies It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: * Pharmaceutical or Medical device hardware or reagent manufacturing * APCD Air Permitting and Regulation and Industrial discharge permitting and compliance Danaher is committed to a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong, and all voices are heard.
