We empower our teams to put science into meaningful action and give our R&D colleagues the autonomy, resources and tools they need to take science a step beyond. **What will you do?** We are seeking a responsible and motivated Scientist II to join our rapidly growing genome engineering team! Successful candidates will have experience in Cell biology and Molecular biology with a background in genome editing applications. The candidate will work independently in a fast-paced environment with very supportive teammates. This role will involve the following tasks: + Molecular biology - Plasmid subcloning, DNA preparations, sequencing, in vitro transcription of RNA, PCR - RNA purification - Generation of genome engineering tools + Mammalian cell culture (Culture of many cell types) + Genomic editing (TALEN and CRISPR based editing) + Work with the team to design experimental plans, analyze experimental data, generate laboratory protocols, and write technical reports, quantitative analyses, and product summaries **How will you get here?** Bachelor's degree with 2 plus years of experience in Molecular and Cell biology. + 1+ years of cloning experience (standard cloning, PCR, mutagenesis, sequencing). + 1+ years of mammalian cell culture experience. + 1+ years of industry experience preferred. + Experience with genome editing (CRISPR, etc) is a plus. **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities** + Have a positive attitude, with the ability to learn new techniques quickly + Team player, able to work effectively with others + Demonstrated ability to generate reliable and repeatable data + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Self motivated, goal-oriented + Maintain a detailed lab notebook and present your findings in a group setting Our global team of more than 90,000 colleagues delivers an unrivaled combination of innovative technologies, purchasing convenience and pharmaceutical services through our industry-leading brands, including Thermo Scientific, Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Fisher Scientific, Unity Lab Services and Patheon.
