Conservation Aide

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking hardworking, reliable individuals to work during the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry's Summer Seasonal Program which can typically run from April through August (determined by Forestry needs). If you enjoy working outdoors and working with your hands to assist with the harvesting, sorting, counting, classifying, and bundling tree seedlings or are seeking extra cash through temporary summer employment, then the Commonwealth may have just such an opportunity for you! Opportunities exist in Centre County for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry as a Conservation Aide. Available positions are based on operational needs.Conservation Aides perform manual laboring tasks such as: tree seedling harvesting by lifting seedlings from beds; classifying seedlings by stem diameter and height; placing bunches of quality seedlings on conveyor belt; placing bundled seedlings on steel racks for refrigerated storage; weeding seed beds; gathering pine needles for mulching seeds in nursery beds; and gathering cones and seeds in seed orchards.
