Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch PAID INTERNSHIP - Animal Care Internship Black Beauty Ranch, which is a world-renowned animal sanctuary that is home to about 800 domestic and exotic animals, many of whom have been rescued from near-death situations such as slaughterhouses, biomedical research laboratories, and trophy hunting ranches, seeks Animal Care Interns. Interns will primarily learn about and perform various animal husbandry duties alongside the staff while gaining valuable ranch experience. We're currently recruiting for the following sessions: * Spring 2022: February 19-May 14 * Summer 2022: May 28-August 20 Intern in our equine, wildlife or primate department, performing various responsibilities including: * Prepare diets and feed/water in measured amounts using diet instructions * Clean enclosures which may include raking, weeding, sweeping platforms, and climbing ladders up to 8 feet * Observe and monitor health and well-being of animals and maintain detailed observation records as directed * Provide behavioral enrichment and stimulation * Complete general housekeeping tasks Please apply to join us if you meet the following requirements: * Must be minimum 18 years old * Must be able to legally work in the United States * Able to meet the requirements outlined in the Essential Capabilities document with or without reasonable accommodation * Must provide proof of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test; Tetanus and pre-exposure rabies vaccinations recommended but not required * Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 * Strong interpersonal skills and able to maintain professionalism * Possess a strong personal work ethic Internship time commitment is approximately 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. Please note our location (Murchison, Texas) and any travel arrangements you may need to make before applying as an intern. This three month, full-time internship offers an hourly wage of $12.66, free housing may be available and course credit can be arranged. Interns must pass a criminal background check and sign a waiver and release of liability. Interns must not require visa sponsorship.
