Zafrens is an attempt to redefine lifesciences product development. We work at the cutting edge of engineering, biology and chemistry to develop innovative products and drugs that are category defining. We are unconstrained by traditional product development methodologies and seek to utilize unique insights and abilities of our colleagues to conceive new ideas and accelerate product development across tools, cells and drugs. We are seeking to build a team of creative and adventurous scientists to push the boundaries of lifescience innovation.

We are currently looking for help generating reporter cell lines to profile interactions between libraries of proteins and libraries of RNA (protein-protein interactions and protein-RNA interactions). We believe understanding the combinatorial interactions of proteins and systematically manipulating them could lead to transformational therapeutic opportunities. As such, we are looking for creative and adventurous scientists who can help us understand the interactome of disordered proteins inside the cell and explore their selectivity and significance in regulating biology. We are open to various approaches to study the interactome as long as we can engineer them to be high throughput initially. Ideas such as yeast/bacterial/mammalian two and three hybrids, radiation mediated recombination, combinatorial transformation with libraries of plasmids, etc., are very interesting to us, with pull-down mass-spec, fluorescent reporters and site-directed mutagenesis as example techniques to confirm interactions. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with one or more of high throughout library generation methods as well as a strong background in cell engineering and synthetic biology. Experience in drug discovery, target discovery and therapeutic aspects of cell biology could be highly advantageous, as well.

Requirements
PhD, masters or bachelor degree in any biology discipline is acceptable as long as the candidate can demonstrate a history of creative problem solving in synthetic manipulation of cells. Direct experience in high throughput cell engineering will be an essential requirement. We are looking to assemble our core team of interdisciplinary scientists to understand and manipulate the regulatory layer of biology. An excitement for this area of biology and an ability to generate ideas to study/understand/manipulate the regulome would be an incredible addition to our team.
Benefits
