United Environmental Services, Inc., headquartered in Schuylkill Haven Pennsylvania is a full service environmental consulting firm established in 2000.

We work on a wide variety of exciting projects involving site characterization through remediation of soil, groundwater, vapor and sediment; due diligence investigation and reporting; water quality monitoring; compliance and risk assessment / risk management for commercial, industrial and governmental clients.

The Environmental Technician will initially work under the direct supervision of an Environmental Scientist. With experience, they will receive general supervision and responsibility for recurring tasks. The Technician will be cross trained in a variety of different environmental related activities.

The position will consist of a mix of field work and shop work providing support to scientists and project managers in order to meet our clients needs.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learns to conduct groundwater, soil and air monitoring and sampling.
  • Learns to operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments and sampling equipment including pumps, meters, and other devices.
  • Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and site specific safety plans when performing work activities.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment including, but not limited to; power tools, generators, trailers, bobcats, pumps, vacuums, and filtration equipment.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. Shop maintenance, stock supplies, schedule vehicle maintenance.
  • Collect notes and maintain daily log of activities performed. Complete data sheets, chain of custody forms, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
  • Submit administrative paperwork including timesheets, expense reports, field reports, etc. on timely basis in accurate and neat format
  • Perform basic calculations and computer data entry.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work environment.
  • Assist others as necessary.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Environmental education or experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid Drivers License required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Candidates must be independent, very responsible, mature, and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
