Reporting to the General Manager,Measurement & Analytics, you will push improvements in health, safety and environment (HSE) performance to ensure a high performing health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment and sustainability. You will lead by example, applying your in depth HSE knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues.
The HSE/SA Manager will work directly with the HSE/SA (Sustainability Affairs) and Operations Management to drive and implement new programs and initiatives such as The ABB Way (ABB's HSSE Management System), Sustainability and Business Area Audit System.
Evaluates ABB's compliance with ABB policy and local HSE regulations, laws, rules, codes, best practices and ABB's corporate standards. Performs tasks associated with HSE/SA compliance as necessary including but not limited to regulatory review, incident/accident investigation, training delivery and presentation and internal auditing.

Your responsibilities
- Conduct studies and surveys and analyze their potential impact. Provide a variety of specific services, advice and guidance to managers and other employees. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, Company programs and policies and established precedents
- Coordinate or conduct and monitor a variety of activities involving operations, facilities, conditions and job functions. Plan and conduct and/or facilitate investigations, develop action plans and prepare reports. Prepare employee communications on various HSE, Corporate Responsibly and Sustainability issues and topics
- Champion the ABB Way HSSE Management System and the ISO45001 program. This includes monitoring, performance and conducting internal audit "Self Assessments"
- Assesses workplace for occupational health hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, sampling and monitoring hazardous waste, chemical or physical agents
- Determines appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies, if indicated and conducts these activities
- Maintains, operates and calibrates a variety of IH (Industrial Hygiene) sampling and monitoring equipment
- Assists and coordinates with the Region (America's HUB) HSE/SA Manager in evaluating and interpreting monitoring and sampling results, making determinations and developing corrective strategies
- Assists and coordinates with the Region HSE/SA Manager in preparing accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings and provides recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions
- Advises and provides technical guidance and information to ABB's employee's regarding HSE CR/SA issues
- Champions in identifying leading/lagging indicators to track HSE/SA performance and establish, maintain and communicate HSE/SA program metrics. Support creation of goals for the Warminster site
- Participates in incident investigations and assist managers in creating corrective/preventative actions
- Assists in development and delivery of HSSE/SA training
- Review SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) for products when requested by supervisors and approve new products for use in each facility
- Conduct periodic (at least daily) walk throughs of work areas (when on site at each location) to evaluate compliance, communicate with personnel and promote HSE/SA program visibility
- Prepare or coordinate preparation of Activity Based Risk Assessments (ABRA) and annually review current ABRA's. Review ABRA's with each manager or supervisor, as needed, to ensure their understanding of findings and program requirements
- Manages the facility's HSE certifications, including permits, licenses and approvals as required by City, State and Federal regulatory agencies, including the groundwater remediation system
- Skill in both verbal and written communication
- Coordinate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) program, ensuring appropriate PPE is always available
Your background
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 5 years of experience dealing with health, safety and environmental programs
- Bachelors Degree in occupational safety or industrial hygiene and 8 years of experience as a HSE Manager in an industrial environment preferred
- Experience with Safety Audits and Inspections
- Material handling best practices
- Passion for safety and the ability to foster a safety culture in a manufacturing environment
- Environmental experience, especially in waste/remediation management
- Professional certification a plus
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
