Summary/Purpose of Position:

This is an entry level Microbiologist position that requires a bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, or related and a laboratory internship or 1-3 years of professional experience. A passion for environmental science, water treatment and remediation are preferred.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

Prioritizes time to maintain project deadlines and customer sample analysis turnaround

Performs routine lab and equipment maintenance, such as cleaning glassware, counter tops, and equipment

Maintains lab database, SOP's and protocols

Analyzes and interprets test results and generates suggestions, follow-up actions and conclusions

Develops, evaluates and implements protocol improvements

Handles and protects confidential and sensitive data with integrity

Basic understanding of and ability to interpret statistical tests

Practical knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis, graph and figure creation

Prepares written reports and technical notes for external and internal customers with guidance from a manager

Possesses good technical lab skills, plates and pipettes accurately and demonstrates repeatable results in routine tests

Knowledgeably and safely handles hazardous chemicals and/or biohazardous materials

Performs related work and other duties, as assigned

Keep organized and comprehensive records of data, results, and reports

Typical Work Environment:

This position requires working in both an office and a laboratory setting.

Some job responsibilities require using chemicals, high-pressure laboratory systems, biological materials, and toxic chemicals.
