JOB DUTIES:
The Natural Resource Specialist position is responsible for the statewide management of natural resources on Delaware State Parks' land. The duties include the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Possession of a Bachelors' degree or higher in Life or Physical Science or related field preferred.
2. Three years' experience in environmental land use or preservation of natural habitats.
3. Three years' experience in interpreting natural resource rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
4. One year experience in natural resource planning and implementation.
5. Applicants must e legally authorized to work in the United States. New Castle County does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1B Visas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience with field identification of plants.
2. Experience with control and management of invasive plant species, including herbicide preparation and application.
3. Knowledge and/or familiarity with Delaware flora and fauna.
4. GIS/GPS experience.

The Natural Resource Specialist position is responsible for the statewide management of natural resources on Delaware State Parks' land. The duties include the following:
- Provides expert consulting services on wildlife management, habitat restoration, rare and endangered species to State Park field staffs.
- Implements Natural Resource Management Plan for State Parks and associated properties.
- Assists in the state park and trail planning processes.
- Assists with the wildlife management program in State Parks.
- Provides staff support for natural resource management, invasive species control, habitat restoration, and wildlife management.
- Ensures availability of natural resource data for environmental review and policy making.
- Provides supervision to Environmental Stewardship seasonal staff, interns and volunteers.
- Daily work will be carried out with limited supervision from the Environmental Stewardship Program Manager.
