Yoh is seeking a Senior/Principal Scientist of Myeloid Biology to support our Clinical Stage Immuno-Oncology client in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Senior/Principal Scientist will be responsible for developing systems to interrogate myeloid cell-mediated regulation of tumor growth and evaluate myeloid-targeting strategies for anti-cancer treatment. This position calls for the candidate to have a PhD with at least 8 years of relevant research experience, preferably with 2-3 years of experience in an industry setting

Responsibilities
- Develop in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo assay systems that interrogate both the function of myeloid cell populations and the activity of therapeutic molecules
- Use murine tumor models and human tumor samples to understand the role of myeloid cells in sensitivity and resistance to therapeutic agents such as checkpoint inhibitors, chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy
- Closely collaborate with project and discovery teams to interrogate the mechanism-of-action of candidate antibodies targeting distinct myeloid subpopulations
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members
- Manage vendor and collaboration relationships
- Contribute to the organizations research strategy by helping to expand the approaches used to target myeloid subpopulations within the tumor microenvironment
- Support biomarker discovery efforts, including patient selection and stratification
Qualifications
- PhD with at least 8 years of relevant research experience, preferably with 2-3 years of experience in an industry setting
- Strong working knowledge of immuno-oncology and/or inflammation with emphasis on myeloid cells
- Extensive knowledge of assays and systems for the interrogation of mouse and human immune cell function
- Demonstrated experience with immune assays, including extensive experience with high-dimensional flow cytometry (14+ parameter) analysis of immune populations from blood, primary and secondary lymphoid tissues, and tumors
- Experience planning, managing or conducting in vivo mouse syngeneic tumor studies (efficacy, pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic)
- Expertise in myeloid biology as evidenced by authorship on high impact publications and patents
- Experience with outsourcing and tech transfer of assays to third parties and CROs
- Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional organization where collaboration is highly valued
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support career development of junior laboratory staff
- Experience leading early drug development teams is a plus
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills to empower teams and leverage strengths
- Effective management of CROs and external partner collaborations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation, organization, and synthesis of large amounts of data for presentation to internal and external audiences
