Who You Are

We are seeking a hard-working and detail-oriented bench Associate Scientist to build a new precision medicine platform. Our team needs someone with expertise RNA molecular biology to work with and mentor. We are looking for people with expertise in developing and optimizing various molecular, biochemical, and cellular assays and who want to be on the ground floor to build this internal capability at Alloy Therapeutics. Principal Responsibilities
  • Under supervision, this bench scientist position will work in a team to drive towards milestone completion at hyperspeed
  • Conceive, optimize, and run various biochemical, molecular and cellular assays such as, RNA extractions, real time qPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry
  • Plan and conduct cell-based antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) library screens to create therapeutic candidates
  • Plan and conduct mechanistic study on ASO-mediated regulation of gene expression
  • Plan and conduct mechanistic investigation of factors affecting ASO safety
  • Keep records of experimental details and project outcomes
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and presentations

Required Qualifications And Skills
  • Degree in a relevant scientific field (Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, etc)
  • B.S. with 5+ years of experience, M.S. with 3+ years, recent Ph.D. graduates
  • Title will be aligned with experience
  • Relevant experiment in molecular biology, mRNA splicing, and/or gene editing
  • Solid hand-on experience with commonly used techniques in cell, molecular biology, and biochemistry, such as cell culture, transfection, CRISPR KO, stable cell line selection, DNA/RNA/Protein extraction and analysis, cloning, qRT-PCR, real-time PCR, subcellular fractionation, ELISA, Western blot, Northern blot, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence staining and microscopy imaging
  • Ability to conduct data analysis, interpret experimental results, and independently draw conclusions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail, rigorous scientific thinking and ability of problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively in a quickly evolving environment
  • Appropriate documentation, clear communication
  • An independent sense of urgency, persistence, and integrity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced, intense work environment
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

Preferred Qualifications And Skills
  • Industry experience preferred
  • Exposure to nucleic acid modalities, including siRNA, antisense oligonucleotide (ASO), mRNA technology
  • Experience in RNA splicing biology
  • Affinity to utilize new technologies and robotic automation for systematic consistency and efficiency
