Mission, Purpose and Programs
EarthCorps is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington that develops leaders to strengthen community and restore the health of our environment. We believe in the power of people acting through their collective responsibility to one another and our planet to tackle the most pressing challenges facing our world, and we envision a world in which people and nature thrive together.
To cultivate this important work, EarthCorps brings together passionate and hardworking aspiring leaders from the US and across the globe for a year-long environmental leadership development program. Participants gain hands-on leadership experience, cross-cultural skills and learn technical environmental restoration while building a close-knit community as they care for our natural world. These emerging environmental leaders think globally and act locally in leading community volunteers to complete restoration projects such as native tree planting, invasive plant removal, salmon stream restoration, wetland and shoreline restoration and trail construction.
At the conclusion of the program, these leaders return to their local communities with the skills and enthusiasm required to tackle the pressing issues of our time including climate change, pollution and ecological degradation to help create a better world for all of us. Since its inception in 1993, EarthCorps has trained more than 1,000 environmental leaders from the US and nearly 80 countries around the world.

The Project Manager (PM) is a full-time, exempt position at EarthCorps. The PM position is responsible for project development and coordination between EarthCorps and partner agencies/organizations; contract management; field leadership of crews; supervision of crew leaders and responsibility for maintaining safety standards and organizational goals of EarthCorps in all endeavors. The PM reports to the Field Operations Manager. You do not need experience in all job responsibilities to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities
Project Management (60%)
* Secures and develops projects in conjunction with the Project Management Team and agency partners. Projects may include implementing vegetation management and integrated pest management plans, stream restoration, erosion control, site stewardship, trail maintenance/construction, and volunteer management
* Coordinates and schedules projects with the Project Management Team
* Develops and maintains exceptional relationships with agency partners
* Ensures all projects meet quality and quantity expectations along with budget and timeline agreed upon with client. Serves as on-site project manager for EarthCorps.
* Manages purchasing of materials and invoicing for field projects
* Prepares oral and written reports
* Actively creates and supports an equitable and inclusive culture at EarthCorps
* Establishes clear goals & objectives with crews including quality/quantity of work, timeline, and safety standards
* Supports leadership development of the leadership cohort and corps members
* Enforces the standards of behavior as well as policies and procedures of EarthCorps and ensures adherence to program goals and mission
* Leads by example, working alongside corps members and crew leaders
* Supports a reciprocal leadership and learning environment with EarthCorps staff and program participants
* Counsels, motivates, disciplines individual corps members and crew leaders as needed
* Assist in the management and maintenance of field infrastructure including vehicles, tools, power equipment, camping gear, herbicide equipment and storage facilities in coordination with Logistics Manager and other field staff.
Training and Instruction (5%)
* Foster a sense of personal responsibility, connection to the land, and growth in technical skills, leadership and community building.
* Plan and deliver training and presentations in such areas asproject orientation, proper use of tools and equipment, workplace safety, restoration ecology, best management practices in restoration techniques, natural resource management, leadership/management skills, and community service in hands on field work, field education and lecture style education.
* Ensures inclusive language in all communications.
* Prepares oral and written reports including project summaries, equipment use and maintenance logs, performance evaluations, and incident reports.
* Oversees contract compliance and grant deliverables.
* Conduct mapping and photo documentation of projects when required
* Maintains project files, including documentation of work, receipts, and contract compliance
* Represents EarthCorps at public events.
Organizational Engagement (5%)
* Actively participates in all staff retreats, meetings, committees and workshops.
* Ability to coach/ mentor young adults
* A Commitment to racial equity and environmental justice
* Affinity for EarthCorps mission and commitment to the development of young adults.
* Experience (may include a combination of education and employment) in applied ecological restoration with understanding of wetland, riparian, and upland habitats.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
* Ability to travel regionally including car and ferry trips.
* Ability to work occasional weekend and overnight programs, including camping
* Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather
* Ability to walk, lift 50 pounds, and operate hand and power tools and other mechanical equipment
* Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
* Experience working with communities of color and managing diverse teams
* Ecological restoration experience in the Pacific Northwest
* Wilderness First Responder certification
* Washington State Pesticide Applicator license
* Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
* Experience with Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) equipment and programs

SALARY -- $48,000 - $55,000 annually dependent on experience
