We are looking to hire a Senior EHS Specialist to be apart of our client's (market leading pharmaceutical organization) fast-growing team. In this role, you would responsible for developing, implementing and administering all applicable EHS and ID (Industrial Hygiene) policies and systems. The Senior EHS Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Evaluate requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system and provide guidance for its use.
  • Assist site management to provide safe and healthy workplace by facilitating the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as proactively improving OH&S performance.
  • Through collaboration with EHS team assist in the management of site activities, which impact areas of EHS regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assess impact of new regulatory guidelines on current practice, initiate document change proposals, prepare/review protocols to justify process changes, assist with training and auditing as appropriate.
  • Provide management assistance in maintaining ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 certified status and setting goals and targets for all EHS programs having significant impact.
  • Conduct/participate in corporate/division/facility and regulated EHS audits and Review, approve, and manage documentation for EHS related policies and procedures.


The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Federal and CA state EHS regulations as well as advanced knowledge of occupational health and safety programs. You will also need to understand the flow and design/interdependency of manufacturing support departments. See below for more skills & qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial hygiene, etc.) or other related Environmental, Health and Safety field AND 5-10 years of EHS experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • OR MS degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or Safety Engineering, Technology or Management (5-7 years of advanced experience may be substituted).
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of leadership experience.
  • Must be able to navigate, conduct searches, and complete online forms on a computer for the purposes of training, performance management, and self-service applications.
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Must be proficient in a variety of mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.
  • You may be required to sign documentation related to hazardous waste transportation and disposal such as manifests, bill-of-ladings, shipping documentation, land ban disposal forms, etc.
