About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to support our Discovery platform. We are looking for a collaborative candidate who works well on a diverse team and is driven to work with biologists and bioinformatics scientists to create state-of-the-art scientific software. The exact level of this position will be based on experience and qualifications, and as such, we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Apply expertise in engineering and AWS infrastructure to support the needs of the Discovery team.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists to design, code, and optimize high performance computing applications, mostly in Python.
• Provide support for the vision for the Discovery computational platform.

Relevant experience and mindset:

• BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related discipline required.
• 2+ years of industry experience in software engineering or a related field.

Preferred additional qualifications:

• Experience with AWS cloud computing development.
• Experience with computational biology andor metagenomics.
• Experience with Python3, TensorFlow, Linux, Docker, and NextFlow.
• Expertise with software development practices such as unit testing, code reviews, and version control.
• Experience with database design and curation.
