Cradle Genomics is currently seeking a Senior Scientist to join a dynamic team focused on developing cell-based non-invasive prenatal tests. The Scientist will be responsible for designing and executing cell-based assay optimization studies to ensure we deliver the highest quality clinical product to the market. As a member of the development team reporting to the Manager of Cell Biology, this person will be responsible for developing and optimizing methods related to isolation of rare cells and collaborating with our next generation sequencing and bioinformatics teams to achieve the Company's mission of revolutionizing prenatal testing.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex projects within the Development organization
  • Plan and perform experiments related to cell biology with a focus on rare cell isolation
  • Develop and optimize rare cell isolation methods utilizing cell lines and clinical samples
  • Design and develop model systems using cell biology techniques to facilitate assay optimization
  • Provide subject matter expertise on topics relevant to Cell Biology and the overall Development team
  • Design and perform FLOW cytometry and immunofluorescence experiments
  • Perform data analysis and document experimental results and synthesize results to provide quality interpretation and outcomes
  • Provide weekly summaries of experimental designs, results, and overall progress


Qualifications and Experience:
  • PhD in life sciences with at least 4 years or MS with at least 8 years of industry experience in cell biology, preferably cell-based clinical assay development, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A track record of productivity, innovation, and impact as demonstrated through a history of publications and patents
  • Hands-on experience with antibody and/or microfluidic rare cell enrichment methods from human samples
  • Broad experience with cell-based assays and techniques such as primary cell isolation/culture, multicolor flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISA, expertise in imaging and immunofluorescence, and other cell and molecular biology techniques
  • Expertise designing projects to solve cellular, biochemical and/or molecular diagnostic problems in areas of developmental, reproductive or cancer biology
  • Experience in genomics, next generation sequencing, non-invasive prenatal testing, bioengineering and process automation a plus


Requirements:
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, ability to communicate challenging or complex topics to senior and junior level, scientific and nonscientific staff
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, cross-functionally, and as an independent contributor, as well as mentoring junior team members
  • Knowledge and experience in CLIA/CAP environments a plus
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within a dynamic and quick-paced environment
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Title commensurate with experience and may be elevated to Principal Scientist for the right candidate/expertise
