The Center for Translational Medicine (CTM) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University was established in 2012 and houses a cutting-edge molecular medicine research unit. We are currently seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the area cardiac biology and disease. Candidates with current independent funding are preferred. We seek scientists with a basic science or translational research focus in cardiac disease and molecular therapeutic approaches. Preference will be for experience in the following areas: (1) intra-organ communication including cardiac tissue with immune cells; (2) cardiac calcium signaling including intracellular communication and filament regulation; (3) cardiac epigenetics; and (4) cardiac cell death and metabolism. This position will complement and synergize with ongoing basic, translational and clinical research programs in the CTM and across Temple's Medical campus. The CTM occupies the 9th floor (over 25, 000 sq ft of open lab space) of the Medical Education and Research Building. The Center currently has multi-disciplinary research interests in gene and stem cell therapy, cardiac and pulmonary signaling, heart failure, and mitochondrial pathobiology with research cores supporting imaging, gene therapy/vectors, bioenergetics, and surgery/physiology. Interested candidates should have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree, and a strong academic record. Academic appointment is available at all levels and competitive packages will be offered based on qualifications.
