We are looking for a collaborative, highly organized senior professional to serve as a technical Due Diligence ("DD") authority within our Global Environmental Compliance group. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of environmental due diligence associated with real estate transactions, experience with American Society for Testing and Materials ("ASTM"), Phase I/II environmental site assessments ("ESAs"), as well as, experience with conducting DD internationally.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong technical expertise in the area of due diligence within multi-national corporations and broad technical expertise as it relates to Phase I/II environmental site assessments.
  • Strong technical expertise specific to the following subject matter areas such as: Vapor Intrusion mitigation, Seismic Risk, and Real Estate Transactions (i.e. Leases, Acquisitions, Renewals, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the evaluation of properties for potential environmental risk and liabilities such as contamination, earthquakes, floods, and endangered species.
  • Clear, concise and consistent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with environmental regulatory agencies and mitigation strategies on behalf of multi-national corporations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders cross-functionally on strategic decisions.
  • Sound judgment and decision ownership in assessing and balancing risks while providing innovative and practical solutions.
  • 10+ years of environmental program development & implementation experience.
  • Strong leadership and vision and with the proven ability to work across organizational boundaries and geographies.
  • Experience in integrating technology to build efficiencies with input, track and monitor compliance.


Description

As Apple's senior technical authority, you will drive the completion and execution for environmental due diligence (Phase I/II ESAs) to support the needs of the Real Estate team during new property acquisitions and leasing situations. This critical role will advise management on key findings per the ESA process to minimize business risks. Additionally, you will manage/provide assistance to ensure environmental compliance per regulatory reporting requirements for high risk acquisitions. While working cross-functionally with internal teams to proactively determine the regulatory impacts and additional permits/programs needed for new facilities and expansions. You will also ensure regulatory compliance with spill prevention, chemical inventory management and reporting, environmental release reporting, solid and hazardous waste compliance and reporting, as well as, emergency response planning at key sites. Maintain policies and procedures related to environmental management. Incorporate new legislation/regulations when necessary to ensure compliance of operations. Support Corporate EHS initiatives, including EHS metrics and periodic activity updates. Develop and implement a follow-up program to evaluate and the implementation of recommendations made during assessment. Provide feedback on performance on timely implementation recommendations. Manage technical consultants as needed to assist in the performance of the hazard evaluations, sampling and follow up as needed. Occasional travel may be required.

Education & Experience

BA or BS program in a relevant Engineering, Chemistry or Physics, etc; Master's degree preferred
