About Us

Our stealth newco is building a unique approach to allogenic regenerative medicines to deliver transformational therapies to patients with severe diseases. Our platform combines higher quality, off-the-shelf cells with novel epigenetic immune evasion approaches to ensure therapeutic functionality. Our company was founded on recent breakthrough science from leading academic labs, has been published in top academic journals, and has world renown scientific founders.

We are searching for an entrepreneurial and operationally strong scientific leader to build and lead a team to bring iPSC-derived regenerative medicines to the clinic. We're looking for someone who is passionate about creating and delivering transformative medicines to patients with severe disease and building the type of organization that people dream of working at.

Our company was created by 5AM Ventures through their 4:59 Initiative incubator program, and will launch out of stealth mode in 2022. Our growing team is located in Cambridge, right in the heart of Kendall Square.

What You'll Do
  • Lead Cell Therapy programs from early-stage research to IND-enabling studies, and provide leadership and subject matter expertise in iPS cell differentiation and therapeutic biology for in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams and collaborators to create and implement iPSC differentiation and immune evasion strategies for Cell Therapy programs.
  • You will build, manage and mentor a team of scientists that integrate a diverse range of skillsets and capabilities in iPSC biology, immunology and therapeutic area disease models.
  • You will think big and execute; meaning you'll play a key role in driving toward a product candidate for defined therapeutic area(s), while also executing on the science to develop and validate the platform, and establishing and communicating clear plans around study priorities and study Proactively find and supervise solutions to scientific challenges, operational bottlenecks, risks, and changes that could lead to scientific risks, planning conflicts, project delays, or cost changes.
  • Manage the work of multiple reports and leverages CROs and academic collaborators effectively to drive programs forward.
  • Provide support for drafting study reports, patents, SOPs, and for drafting and reviewing relevant regulatory submissions.
  • Present and report project progresses to internal stakeholders including company leadership, and external collaborators including scientific advisory board members.


Your background and what you'll bring
  • Proven leadership and management experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong record of research accomplishments including working in an R&D organization with a leadership role in scientific studies to support IND submissions, either leading the research portion of an IND or managing a team that contributed to an IND.
  • You bring deep scientific and process development experience for iPSC-derived cell therapies, with disease and tissue experience in islets or liver.
  • You have experience with in vitro and in vivo characterization of regenerative medicines and protocol development.
  • You have built and led high-performing teams, with a strong ability to prioritize projects, balancing scientific rigor with driving projects to results, developing and managing timelines and budgets, and managing teams to achieve results.
  • Experience communicating science to regulatory filings and understanding of the rigor of data collection that supports the research studies that go into such filings.
  • You are excited about building a transformational cell therapy company and have an energetic passion for leading by example in a diverse work environment.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivating and creative, able to work within a team and collaborate proficiently with colleagues to achieve program goals.
  • You earned your PhD or equivalent in cell/molecular biology, or stem cells, with ten or more years of drug discovery or development experience, and are authorized to legally work in the US.
